Hey my Foodie friends. I just got my first pair of Converse Sneakers, the Converse Move. These are platform sneaker and they are really comfortable to me. However, I could not just wear the shoes plain. I had to paint them to fit me. Your suppose to paint your converse right???
Type of Paint
I am a big researcher and knew that I could not use any kind of paint on canvas sneakers. I found the most common brand was Angelus Acrylic Leather paint. I went to my local art store and found they had some in stock. But if you do not have a dedicated art store, you can find Angelus on Amazon. (Click here). I also needed painters tape to mask where I did not want the paint. Along with the colors, I also got a finishing medium in the same brand to protect my work and to give it a shine. I purchased Satin Finish instead of a flat or glossy; it produces just enough shine for my liking.
Paint Brushes
Because I was working with acrylic, I needed acrylic brushes to ensure the paint went on smoothly. I found some at Walmart, but Here are some from Amazon.
Other Required Materials
Some of the other things I need was a cup of water; a palette to mix paint colors or a piece of wax paper or plastic work well too; towels to wipe paint on or brushes and to lay down on the painting surface so it doesn’t get messy; blow dryer to make the drying process faster in between coats.
Designs
Now I have my supplies, what to paint… Something food-related of course. I sketched out what I wanted on my shoes; a bowl of ramen and a food truck. Now it was time to create.
Where to Paint
I decided to paint on the outside of the sneaker as it was the only area that did not have a logo. And I also painted the strip in the very back as well.
The Finished Product
The whole process took about 5-6 hours to finish both shoes and I let them dry a full 24 before I wore them. This was an awesome experience and I love how they came out. The design is so me; Foodie all the way!
If you guys have ever painted your sneakers, I would love to see them. You can leave in the comments or tag me in your photo on Instagram @Gloriousgal and I will repost you on my Story.
