Post Solo Road Trip Update

So my Vegas solo road trip vlogs have come to a close. Thanks so much for being a part of my road trip adventure. The Post Road Trip vlog is now live:

solo road trip update YouTube video

My journey had a few detours and bumps, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I was super nervous about doing this trip alone, but I am all about doing it scared; I learned a lot about myself. Besides, if I stopped living every time I am scared, I would be dead!

Don’t let fear stop you from living, do it scared. Don’t let being alone stop you from going, go by yourself. I promise, not only will you find out a lot about yourself, but you will learn that you can be your own best friend and that you love your own company some times. You will learn that traveling and seeing the world around you is life changing, fun and very rewarding.

Solo Road Trip to Vegas | Day 3 | Meeting up with my Best Friend

Hey All, welcome back to my Solo Road Trip Adventure. In this episode I finally reach my destination of Las Vegas, Nevada. Along the way, I experienced beauties both natural and man-made, some I wish I had more time to experience and explore, but now I have something to look forward to on my next solo road trip to the area.

As a summary, after staying the night in Bakersfield, California and eating a great Po Boy, I set off about 8 a.m. to reach Vegas by 1:00 p.m. to pick my Bestie up from the airport.

Along the way I stopped on the side of the road to get a distant view of the Mojave Air and Space Port in Kern County California.

Did You Know that the Mojave Desert is consider the smallest of the deserts in the United States, stretching 43,750 square miles between southeastern California and southern Nevada, with small parts also in Utah and Arizona!

The Mojave is so beautiful. I would not have expected there to be such beauty in the desert, however, it is not desolate like one would think a desert would be. But to behold such natural beauties as well as man-made wonders… more on that later.

Finally making it to Las Vegas, for the second time in my life, to see my bestie that I haven’t physically been in the presence of for over 5 years was a blast, but I will get into that next time. But our first meal together was at the Still in The Mirage. The food was great.

Eating at Food Cart ‘Oh Boy! Po Boy!’ in Bakersfield, California

So as you all know, if you have been following my last few post, I road tripped to Las Vegas from Oregon Via California. Currently, in the time line, I am stopped for the night in Bakersfield, California. And I can’t not go checkout some dope food carts. Or in this case a food cart, as I am only stationary for a few hours.

I always like doing research prior to my trips for, food spots that I might want to try while I’m traveling. I had several options, but settled on ‘Oh Boy! Po Boy!’ food cart in the Bakersfield area. After checking out their Yelp reviews and their Instagram, I found out where they were located.

‘Oh Boy! Po Boy’ currently is only open 3 days a week and they are in a different places on those days, Thursday-Saturday. I happened to catch the cart on a Thursday, therefore, they were located in the rear of Great Change Brewers in Bakersfield.

Photo from Oh Boy! Po Boy website.

I always checkout the menu before I go to most restaurants. And if there are pictures of the food, even better; I can get an idea of what to expect.

‘Oh Boy! Po Boy!’ menu is super simple. However, after checking out their Instagram, I discovered that they had one secret menu item.

This small, unassuming trailer, of which I passed by twice. Thus, having to call to make sure I was in the right place. It doesn’t look like much, and the sign they have was so small (get a bigger sign!!! 😉 ).

But, once I walked up to the cart, I was greeted by a nice young man name Austin who happen to be both Chef and Owner of ‘Oh Boy! Po Boy!’

Super kind individual, showed me what I would be getting, if I wanted to eat there, but I decided to take my meal to go so I could enjoy it in the comfort of my hotel room.

I mention the secret menu item before, which is what I order. A 2 face Po Boy and Chicharron plate.

Now if you want to know what I thought about the food, you will have to check the video put on my YouTube Channel.

Glo On The Go: Solo Road Trip to Vegas Day 1

It is finally time to hit the road on my first Solo Road Trip to Vegas and I am so excited. I have had the wanderlust bug for some time now, but had to put things on hold like the rest of the world. But, now is the time for me to get my feet wet again and begin my Solo Road Trip Adventures with the first being this trip from the Portland, Oregon metro area to Las Vegas, Nevada by way of California.

I think I have said before that I am a gypsy, one who grew up traveling. But with raising kids and make sure my family was taken care of, I have gotten away from my passions and lost myself. Welp the kids are much bigger, self-sufficient for the most part, so it is time to go and let my wanderlust thrive and grow. Time to Solo trip and find and indulge in my passions.

Follow along as I hit the road on my first Solo Road Trip. And to keep with my journey, consider subscribing to my YouTube Channel. Also, check out my Store for some awesome gear with more to come.

Preparing for My First Solo Road Trip

I am so excited to be traveling and even more so excited to be going on my first solo road trip. Now food and travel are what I do, but with everything that has been going on, traveling and trying new restaurants and such have been put on hold, until now.

I have been toying with the idea of buying a van and converting it so that I and sometimes my kids could travel around the country and see sights we have never seen before and of course eat. But I realized that I had never been camping or even glamping. I am 100% city girl, but I am also a nomad. I traveled and moved around a lot when I was younger and even my earlier adult years. I like going to new places and exploring. And now I am at a point in my life that it is time to get back to what I love. But first a trial run.

Watch as I prepare for my solo road trip, and be sure to subscribe to my Youtube Channel so you can see how my trip turns out.

Check out my Store to get some cook apparel and supporting my small business. I appreciate you all.
