Crafting and Creating-Holiday 2024

With my chronic illness, I find myself unable to do many of the things I previously could, and that has been incredibly difficult for me to grasp and accept. At times, I still stubbornly push beyond my current capabilities, only to pay for that exuberance with excruciating pain and being bedridden for days on end. However, through this challenging journey, I am learning valuable lessons about my limits and the importance of self-care.
I am genuinely grateful to my two incredible daughters, who always come to my aid with unwavering enthusiasm and help me in the kitchen, as well as in all sorts of everyday situations. They are my true MVPs, shining stars in my universe!
This year, I dove headfirst into the delightful world of crafting charming gifts and whimsical DIY decorations. It all started when my oldest daughter surprised me with an adorable little tabletop white Christmas tree that instantly captured my heart, and I’ve decided to keep it up all year round for that extra sprinkle of holiday cheer. Rather than splurging on store-bought decorations, I felt a wave of inspiration to create a colorful collection of festive Christmas gnomes for the tree. I also had the wonderfully quirky idea to make larger gnomes that beautifully represent each of my beloved daughters, as gifts they can keep forever.

My oldest daughter is absolutely all things music, living and breathing melodies and rhythms every single day, so I decided to create a delightful musical-themed gnome just for her.

My youngest also absolutely adores music, but she is definitely in her exciting video game era, so I happily made her a delightfully whimsical video game themed gnome. This little gnome is not just any gnome; it’s bursting with vibrant colors and fun gaming symbols that make it a perfect companion for her gaming adventures!

Me absolutely adoring all things cooking and culinary, I went ahead and crafted a delightful Chef gnome that proudly sports a whimsical hat emblazoned with the phrase “she is always on duty.” This charming little one adds a sprinkle of magic to my kitchen, reminding me to whip up tasty treats with a smile!

I created so many more delightful and whimsical gifts for my wonderful mom and dad, and of course, for myself too! I dove into crafting with such enthusiasm that I may have overdone it and ended up tearing something in my right hand…oopsie daisy! But I truly enjoyed every minute of the creative process, and being imaginative really helped boost my mental and emotional health throughout the festive holiday season.
